Duke Energy Life Jacket Loaner Board Program

Duke Energy Life Jacket Loaner Board Program is encouraging summer boating and swimming safety for everyone.  Its “Life Jacket Loaner Boards” are available at different boat launch and recreation areas in the area.  These boards offer life jackets for use on the honor system and vary in size at each location.  Any children 13 and under are required by law to wear a life jacket while on the water or on a boat, per the NC Wildlife Commission.

The Life Jacket Loaner Boards in the Lake Norman/Mtn. Island area are located at the following places:

• Beatty’s Ford Access
• Riverbend Access
• Neck Road Access

There are also locations on these bodies of water:

• Lake Wylie
• Lake Wateree
• Keowee-Toxaway Lakes
• Lake Keowee
• Lake Jocassee
• Nantahala Lakes
• Lake Glenville
• Hyco Lake

• This community offers a pool and park area—and is safe for walking.

We Enjoyed This Particular Floorplan Because:

• Both bedrooms are upstairs, so I feel safe with having the windows open at night.
• The garage is also a nice addition for the safety concern.

What Our Neighbors are Like:

• The neighbors are friendly, but not intrusive.
• On the same street in the next unit lives a police officer who parks his car in plain sight.  This is his contribution to helping make our neighborhood a safe place.

Some things you may want to know are:

• This house is not on the main road, so there is not a lot of noise from traffic.
• Being in-between units helps save on energy costs.
• Close by to I-485 to quickly get anywhere around Charlotte
