Burn Boot Camp

Burn Boot Camp is a "fit community of moms" - providing a great workout for women of all ages (moms or not!). There are 8 locations: Cornelius, Huntersville, Mooresville, Denver, Concord, South Charlotte, Matthews and now Durham! Some of the boot camp times offer childcare, so it is perfect for the moms who want to get a workout in but needs someone to watch her children. Your membership fee includes childcare.

Classes are offered multiple times a day, beginning at 5am. Yoga is also offered during the week.

Each workout is approximately 45 minutes and you start hard & finish hard. There is a warm-up that can consist of jumping jacks, lunges, jump squats, jumping lunges - getting your heart rate up early.

Each day focuses on different areas of the body. This week, we've focused on sprints, legs/burst finisher, and arms/core/back. Music with a great beat keeps you motivated during the workout, while the instructor walks around encouraging everyone and helping you modify the exercise if needed.

Any fitness level can participate and the instructors are very encouraging. All exercises can be modified and you complete the workout at your own fitness level. Burn Boot Camp focuses on overall fitness, developing lean muscle which burns more calories throughout the day. Over time, your body will become stronger and more fit - helping with your energy levels, posture, and overall strength.

Class participants are very friendly and encouraging of one another, making it a great workout experience. Burn Boot Camp offers a free 14 day test trial for any woman interested in giving it a try. Lauren is two weeks in and loving it!

5736 Cedar Run Road - Denver

For more information on 5736 Cedar Run Road, click here.

WHAT OUR SELLERS LOVE ABOUT 5736 Cedar Run Road:

The things we have enjoyed most about living here are:

 • Our well water. It is delicious.
 • The quiet feel of Lincoln County yet with easy access to Lake Norman attractions and a very direct route to Charlotte & CLT airport (Route 16/485).
 • Both our neighborhood and the Denver community as a whole are a great mixture of NC natives and transplants from other parts of the country. Being transplants ourselves, it was easy to find people from places we’ve lived before, but we’ve also gotten to know lots of lifelong North Carolinians.
 • We love our excellent elementary school (Rock Springs) and the whole county public school system overall has a good reputation.
• The local YMCA (Sally’s YMCA) is a terrific community center with fitness, classes, and a fun outdoor swimming pool during the summer season.
• Cabbella’s is the best place to get a cup of coffee, and Savory Plum Bistro and Bakery is another local treasure.

What our neighbors are like:

• Around the rest of the neighborhood you’ll find many kind people in all stages of life. There are young couples with young children, middle-aged families, and retirees. There are usually one or two block parties throughout the year and we all get along very well.

We enjoy this particular house/floorplan because:
 • We find this house is very comfortable, easy to maintain, and easy to keep clean.
 • We enjoy the kitchen; we cook every single day and love having the large pantry and immediate access to the dining and breakfast areas. The counter space has been adequate for our family of five.
 • For our taste, it has just the right flooring in each room (hardwood in living spaces, carpet in bedrooms, tile in bathrooms).

Some things you may want to know are:

 • We are the first occupants of the home, which was completed in early 2007. The builder’s name is Jerry Maggs. I do not know if he is still in the area.
 • The wooded lot next to ours (east side) has remained un-sold for about 10 years.
• The well house has a temperature-controlled heat lamp inside to prevent the pump and pipes from freezing. A very nice feature.

Denver, NC - Future Development

At East Lincoln Betterment Association’s (ELBA) last meeting in early January, Lincoln County’s Director of Planning & Inspections spoke about upcoming projects for Denver, the eastern part of the county.  ELBA meets monthly in Denver at St. Peter by the Lake Episcopal Church.  These meetings are open to the public.
The Planning & Inspections Director focused on growth in the eastern part of Lincoln County, and future planning for Denver.  Denver is predicted to grow tremendously over the next 5-10 years.  The Director provided brief explanations of different areas of growth:
PEOPLE:
  • 2010 Census indicated 84,000 people live in Lincoln County.  The 2020 prediction is 100,000 people – with 10,000 of those living in eastern Lincoln County.
  • Of those 10,000 people, most of them will live EAST of Highway 16
  • By 2025, eastern Lincoln County is predicted to be the most populated area of the county
TRANSPORTATION:
  • North Pilot Knob Road & Highway 73 will have a new interchange.  The short cut-through road onto North Pilot Knob will be eliminated & there will be a two-way road instead of an off-ramp onto Highway 73
  • Carolina Ridge (Trilogy Community) will have a side entrance into the neighborhood off Highway 73.  You can already see this developing across from the East Lincoln High School bus parking.  There will be additional turn lanes on Little Egypt for this community’s entrance
  • Highway 73 will be widened from Highway 16 to Beatties Ford Road in Huntersville.  This is scheduled to begin in 2021, with a new bridge being constructed as well.
  • The Unity Church Road & Highway 16 intersection will be reconfigured starting in 2020, with construction beginning in 2023.
HOUSING:
  • Carolina Ridge:  This Trilogy Lake Norman development by Shea Homes is currently under construction at Highway 73 & Little Egypt Road.  The plan is for 1650 units – single family & attached – an active adult community on 606 acres.  Shea Homes plans a 7-9 year build-out with the first homes available this fall.
  • Rivercross:  Still awaiting county approval, this is a commercial & residential development slated for Highway 16 near Triangle Circle (site of old Denver Days location).  There are plans for 220 single family units, 240 multi-family units and 100,000 square feet of commercial space.  If approved, homes should be available in early 2016.
  • Covington:  Landis Reed & Eastwood homes are currently building in this neighborhood off Webbs Road in Denver.  There are 385 units approved here in the former Burton Creek neighborhood
  • Villages of Denver:  Currently adding 200 units and the possibility to add an additional 400 units in the future.
  • Cottonwood Village:  Denver will have its first hotel, behind Midtown Sundries, at Highways 16 & 73.  In addition to the hotel (yet to be named, brand – in negotiations), 254 apartment units will be built.

As you can see, Denver is growing rapidly & the county is forward-thinking in development.  There are future plans to make the county more walkable with trails, greenways and parks.  The Walking Around Lincoln County (WALC) is currently working on that project.

Queen's Feast - Charlotte Restaurant Week

Queen’s Feast – Charlotte Restaurant Week

Over 100 restaurants in Charlotte and the surrounding area are participating in this summer’s Queen Feast –  Charlotte Restaurant Week.  Restaurant Week begins this Friday, July 18th and ends on Sunday, July 27th.  Reservations are highly recommended as participating restaurants book quickly.  Many Charlotte area residents book reservations at a few different restaurants during Queen’s Feast, in order to experience different menus and atmospheres.

Restaurant week is a great opportunity to try restaurants not normally in your rotation, for a fixed price.  Three course meals (or more) are $30 per person and are usually less expensive than a regular dinner out.  Some restaurants use Open Table for reservations, so gather your dinner group together & book your reservation!

Some of the participating Lake Norman Restaurants are listed below:
131 Main
Alton’s Kitchen
Campania
Chillfire
Epic Chophouse
Mickey & Mooch
Red Rocks Café

Some of our favorite restaurants are on this list – including Campania and Red Rocks Café. These restaurants never disappoint and have a great menu for Queen’s Feast – Charlotte Restaurant Week.  Which is your favorite participating restaurant?
